Unique among all honors programs
in the country, the Augsburg College Honors Program combines the ancient
traditions of a medieval curriculum with the genuine freedom and flexibility
needed for students to create their own ideal higher education.
Students enjoy personal access to distinguished professors teaching their
favorite material. The result is a captivating educational adventure designed
to challenge and inspire exceptional students.
The Augsburg Honors Progrram provides Honors students with
advantages:
First, the Honors Signature Courses, based on the medieval
divisions of knowledge, automatically satisfy all of the College's general
education requirements (except health/physical education and modern language)
in a simple sequence of challenging courses, created just for Honors students.
Second, Student-Created Courses allow students to design their
own courses—as either a replacement or supplement to the established Honors
courses. Students can learn through one-on-one tutoring, small reading groups,
or out-of-classroom experiences.
Third, Honors Leadership Activities give Honors students access
to the The Augsburg Review, Honors Debate League, Faculty/Student Research
Collaboration, and the Honors Houses. Through these activities, students can
engage in travel abroad, service-learning, social justice activities, political
activism, leadership, research, and social gatherings with their friends.
